One of my favorite expressions these days is to say “and there you have it.” Ask the brown-eyed girl, and she’ll tell you its become almost a laugh line between us.
It describes so many situations too – but the origin was when I was involved in a training program a few years ago, and the leader used the expression whenever she didn’t want to answer the question asked.
She’d mutter a few words and then finish with, ‘and there you have it.’
In the last week, Google is the one who is saying ‘and there you have it,’ this time in relation to their most recent algorithm update called “Penguin 3.0”. Those who operate the best SEO firms, like mine, are saying it too.
You see, your site was probably hit by it – whether you know it yet or not. All of the Penguin updates were intended to help Google further their goal of making search results more relevant for the user.
If this is all new to you, the user is the person searching.
That your business thrives on search engine traffic does not matter one bit to Google.
Now, if you have Google Analytics installed on your site, then go look at the traffic to your site between 10/17/14 and today, and if you’ve lost traffic, then you’re currently being penalized for something.
